About Me

Welcome to my blog!  My name is Jessica Crawford.  I am a high school English teacher with a passion for reading and encouraging my students to read.  I graduated from Western Michigan University in 2006 with a degree in Secondary Education with a major in English and a minor in History.  While I always loved to read, I fell in love with Young Adult Literature in a reading methods course when I read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.  In my six years as a high school English teacher, I have been working on building a classroom library to expose students to great titles and help them develop a love for reading.  I earned my Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching with an emphasis on Reading in 2012 from Saginaw Valley State University.  You can follow me on Twitter at @JCrawford728.

I hope to use my blog to share my experiences in the classroom as I strive to increase student choice in reading and writing.  I will also review books that both my students and I have enjoyed.  I see this as a great way to spread my love of teaching and reading, as well as connect to other readers.
